Mission Statement:

Our goal is to promote understanding and awareness of media and technology policy and engage the community with the end object of activism. We intend to do this through education and initiatives, especially around using technology as a tool for activism and bridging the digital divide.

Projects:

  1. Participation in relevant conferences
    1. Mass Global Action Conference on Globalization/Privation in Boston on Nov 19th

i. Goal of creating a new activist network on globalization issues

ii. Attendees will include academics, community activists, and researches on business & government

iii. Includes keynote speakers, workshops, and final group meeting

iv. We could prepare a workshop/panel on telecom policy issues

  1. Screenings of our own work
  2. Screenings of visiting scholars, etc
  3. week long Digital Media Institute (late October/early Nov)
  4. Media Club (Matt)
  5. Develop learning plan for group

Tools:

  1. Listserv for students
  2. 1-2 video trainings by Shannon
  3. WIKI
    1. Discussion thread, file uploads, links page, images in posts
  4. PUBLIC FACE of the group: Blog or website?
