New Mission Statement:

The Community Media and Technology Working Group has been formed to promote awareness and understanding of media and technology policy in the Boston area and beyond. We will engage area communities through educational initiatives in that arena with an eye towards fostering social activism and using media and technology to help bridge the digital divide.

UPDATES:

Media Club:

- In process for Senate activation

- Jason will work on using Media Club to reserve room for Nov 19th event

Globalization / Privatization Conference with Mass Global Action (Nov 19th):

Media Club will assemble panel for Telecom track and help recruit attendees.

To Do:

  1. Panel – need 2-3 panelists

· for example Fred Johnson, guy from Brooklyn, Mainstreets WiFi, CCtv

· (need to get LOCAL folks)

· AI: All group members should brainstorm list of potential speakers and bring to next meeting

· Need to send out invites in next two weeks

  1. Attendees – activists, students:

· Send calls to listservs

· Research local organizations

Digital Media Workshop:

1. When: proposed week starting November 14th, 2005

2. Who: The Clinic will be for students(afternoons) and faculty(mornings) who are interested in learning more about the Taylor Center and what resources are available to them.

- Targeted audience should start with CPCS students/faculty

- AI: Members should bring ideas of who to run workshops to next meeting

3. Where: Taylor Center, other spaces for Camera Production

CMT Working Group Video Training Sessions:

2 two hour sessions:

1. Training session using Sony PD-150 camera for group – Bruce

2. Possibly training on iMovie or Final Cut Pro. (Shannon/Matt).

AI: Group members should email listserv availability in the next two weeks for sessions.

Film Screenings:

All members of the group will research possible movies and presenters and bring to next meeting.
